A Tennessee-based program is making it easier for people with autism to get jobs. The program, called “Devices for Autism,” is being led by TERRA (The Electronics Reuse & Recycling Alliance). The group is employing people with autism to disassemble mailed-in laptops and tablets for recycling.

Nashville, TN - September 15, 2022 Nashville-based The Electronics Reuse & Recycling Alliance (TERRA) has now reached 100 e-Stewards and R2 Certified electronics reuse and recycling facilities.
The association says it represents the largest network of certified recyclers in North America dedicated to eliminating hazardous e-scrap from contaminating the air, land and water. This is done through diverting used electronics to the care of responsible and transparent providers to maximize the sustainable reuse and recycling of natural resources.

LOUISVILLE, KY - (February 10, 2022) — Mayor Greg Fischer today announced a new Digital Inclusion partnership with TERRA and Digitunity to collect, refurbish, and return laptops and tablet computers to people in need.
Through Nashville-based TERRA’s Done with IT program, Louisville-area residents can donate laptops or tablets in good condition to be refurbished. Only undamaged equipment in good working order is eligible, and people are encouraged to include chargers and other peripheral items. TERRA guarantees destruction of data on the devices.
